Design a Float

Get creative and help us to design a new float for this year’s Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant.

About the competition

Get creative, use your imagination and start drawing… because we need your help to design a new float for this year’s Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant!

The competition is open to primary students and winners have the opportunity to take part in the Pageant!

2021 CHALLENGE: Cosmic Christmas

Get ready for lift-off! Grab your drawing gear and have some fun creating everything we need to design our Cosmic Christmas float – like astronauts, aliens, spaceships, stars and planets… all with a festive twist!

Let your imagination go wild – what else would you find celebrating Christmas in outer space? Spacesuit Santa? Reindeer rockets? Alien angels?

Of course, we’ll need some traditional Christmas elements like ornaments, candy canes, stockings, wreaths and Christmas trees– but styled to belong in the vastness of space. (Christmas tree satellites? A present planet? Merry meteors?)

You can either draw the elements separately, or combine your ideas to create a bigger picture.

We’ll choose our favourite bits and pieces from everyone’s designs and put them together to build our new float for The West Australian, Channel 7, Media Education and ED! Magazine.

This competition closes on October 13.

Students could win $100 and an invitation to accompany our float in this year’s Pageant, as well as a cool shirt to wear!
